Jim was born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia. His family attended a mainline denominational church but never heard the Gospel until he was 16 years of age in a movie theater showing Christian films. After receiving Christ as Savior, Jim knew that pastoral ministry would one day be part of his life. Within the year, Jim’s entire family accepted Christ at the same movie theater. Jim went onto to receive a bachelor’s degree in Bible and Psychology from Northeastern Bible College, as well as a masters’ in Divinity and Counseling from Denver Seminary. After Seminary the Lord led him in to a nearly decade long experience of caring for people in inpatient psychiatric hospitals. In 1997, he joined the pastoral staff team at McLean Bible Church, where is ministered for 20 years.
Jim met his wife Sharon in the early days of ministry and they married in April of 1999. Sharon – an attorney by trade – currently works for the Alliance Defending Freedom as a Senior Research Analyst. They have two college-aged children, Natalie and Adam.
Jim has been on the staff team at Reston Bible Church since June of 2017. For nearly four and a half years, Jim led the Shepherd Group ministry as well as Young Adults, Men’s, and Women’s Ministries. Transitioning to the Senior Teaching Pastor in January 2022 has brought an excitement for the road ahead.
