Chris and Debbie Smith are leading a team to Benevides, Brazil to build house #15 for a much needy family as well as do some VBS type outreaches for the kids in the community.

They will minister in conjunction with RBC-sent and -supported missionaries Marcelo and Holly Vieira who have planted a church in the community. About the Family We Will Serve

Dona Dalva resides in Bairro das Flores. She has worked on the garbage dump for many years, although works as a house cleaner when she can find work doing so.

Dona Dalva has several adult children. One son works on the trucks at the garbage dump, and one son just moved to another state where he found work. Dona Dalva is raising several grandchildren, in addition to being the main care giver to her adult daughter Ingrid, who is disabled, and Ingrid’s children.

Currently, the family lives in a rundown brick house opposite the garbage dump that leaks and does not accommodate the number of people living there.

Igreja Bíblica Espaço Emanuel (Marcelo and Holly’s church) purposes to partner with the team from Reston Bible Church in improving the living situation of this family. IBEE will assist RBC with the house build, and work towards raising funds towards re-roofing their brick structure so it will be usable.

Most of the family attends the church, and the younger children attend many of the ministry activities throughout the week.
