2020 Women’s Retreat: The Wondrous Cross
Event Navigation
Check back later for information on the 2021 retreat.
We cannot free ourselves from the bondage of fear. We cannot rid ourselves of the anger within or the distresses without. We cannot raise ourselves from the pit of despair and depression or lower ourselves from the heights of anxiety. We cannot. But Jesus can with the “more than conquering” power of the resurrection; the power of the cross.
The apostle Paul wrote, “I want to know Christ and the power of His resurrection.” (Philippians 3:10) and he prayed that “you will begin to understand how incredibly great His power is to help those who believe Him” (Ephesians 1:19).
We can spend our whole lives trying to fix ourselves or we can go to the cross and discover its transforming power. Come join us as we with all expectation in the promises and power of God, journey to Calvary and glory in the Wondrous Cross!
The retreat begins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13, and continues until noon on Sunday, March 15. Check-in for the retreat will begin at 4:30 and dinner will not be served. We will enjoy a “Caught in the Cookie Jar” dessert reception on Friday night and a free time on Saturday afternoon. Three meals (including gluten free options) will be served on Saturday and Breakfast on Sunday. Dress code is casual—please be comfortable. There are irons and ironing boards in each guest room.
Retreat registration is now closed. We may be able to accept some late registrations. Email marshamathews@restonbible.org for more information.
About Our Speaker
Margaret is an author, speaker, and artist. Her greatest passion is declaring the sufficiency of Christ for healing of hearts, restoring of souls and transforming lives. She speaks from her own testimony of God’s amazing grace which delivered her from the darkness of immorality both with men and women into the eternal light of God’s kingdom with absolute freedom and joy. She discovered by that same grace that only in going to the cross to lay down one’s self can she experience Christ’s life, which breaks every bond, heals every past, and fills every heart with overflowing love. She would say as Fanny Crosby sang, “This is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long.” She attends Benchmark Bible Church in Denton, Texas, where she teaches Bible studies and from her church, travels and teaches at women’s retreats and conferences. Margaret has always been single, considered by her a gift so that she can be free to serve the Lord in “feeding His sheep.” She is also a breast cancer survivor.
Our Location
We are so excited to be holding our retreat this year at the historic George Washington Hotel in Winchester, Va. You can choose to stay in one of the hotel’s beautiful guest rooms or come as a “Commuter” which allows you to attend all the sessions, activities, meals (including gluten free options), and small group discussions. The commuter option is ideal for those who prefer to drive home and sleep in their own bed or those who have loyalty points to redeem at a nearby hotel. However, we highly recommend that you stay at the George Washington Hotel to get the full retreat experience.
