Are you associated with a denomination?
Reston Bible Church is not associated with any denomination. When the church was started in 1975, it was started with the desire and intention to be a Bible-believing and teaching ministry led by the Lord Jesus Christ and a plurality of elders. Through the years, no need or desire has been felt to be formally associated with any denomination. We pursue relationships with other local churches for the purpose of unified praise, prayer, and worship of our lord Jesus Christ.
Are you a charismatic church?
The term "charismatic" has a very wide connotation in today's evangelical circles. We are not a charismatic church in the sense of certain doctrines such as the second baptism of the Holy Spirit, a baptism of the Holy Spirit as evidenced by speaking in tongues, or possibly the loss of one's salvation. We are, however, a church that greatly desires to worship God in praise, singing, and celebration of His greatness. While Reston Bible Church is conservative in its expression of worship, we do believe in and desire the freedom to worship God by lifting up of holy hands.
Do you offer counseling?
Yes. Our pastors do some counseling, and we have several trained lay counselors from our community. Whatever your need, please contact Eileen Polachek for an assessment and counseling referral. In addition to the counsel of our elders and pastors, Reston Bible Church has raised up Lay Counselors to serve those within the body who are struggling with any number of issues. The Lay Counselors have received training from Dr. Bill Clark, an RBC member and professional biblical counselor.
Do you have a nursery or day school?
We have a nursery for all three services on Sunday morning for children under two years of age. Our nursery on Saturday nights is currently for children under three years of age. We do not currently have a daycare during the week. If you have any questions about weekend nursery, please e-mail childrensministry@restonbible.org.
Can I host an activity at the church?
Due to space limitations, only RBC-generated or RBC-hosted ministry events are approved for use of the church facilities. For information, policy, or questions contact Byron Sheldon, Director of Facilities.
What activities can be announced in the bulletin?
Only RBC-generated or RBC-hosted events may be announced in the bulletin, and must have the approval of the appropriate ministry leader or pastor.
How do I reserve a van for a church activity?
Van use is very restricted, however, church vans may be reserved by completing a vehicle request form and an approved driver form. Please contact Byron Sheldon or your ministry leader for more information.
Can I have my wedding at the church?
The church is available for weddings to anyone who is attending RBC on a regular basis. Anyone who is married at RBC must go through marriage counseling and have the blessing of one of our pastors. Please see our Wedding Policy for more information.
Are the church services ever closed due to snow or bad weather?
Services may be canceled for safety reasons during heavy snowfall when the roads are potentially dangerous or impassable. In case of inclement weather on the weekends, please check the RBC website or the church voice mail at 703-478-9730 for updates. Once the decision to close the services is made, the information will be posted to the website and recorded on the church voice mail by 3:00pm on Saturday and by 7:00am on Sunday. If you are involved in serving at the weekend services, your Ministry Leader will contact you directly.
